If your battery does not show signs of damage or swelling
Dispose of your battery at your nearest battery recycling location. To find your nearest battery recycling location, open a web browser and go to www.call2recycle.org/locator.
If your battery shows signs of damage or swelling
After you have removed your old battery, complete the following steps:
- Cover the metal battery terminals with non-conductive electrical tape.
- Store your battery in a cool, dry place, away from any flammable items, for example, store your battery by itself on top of sand or concrete.
Important: Do not place your old battery in a sealed container.
