{"id":970,"date":"2023-04-05T10:38:44","date_gmt":"2023-04-05T10:38:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/?p=970"},"modified":"2025-05-28T13:21:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T13:21:59","slug":"how-do-i-set-up-my-v400m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/payment-devices\/semi-integrated\/v400m\/how-do-i-set-up-my-v400m\/","title":{"rendered":"How do I set up my V400m?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"notice\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: To help prevent issues with your V400m, we recommend that you do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Charge your V400m when you aren\u2019t using it.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your V400m within range of the router.<\/li>\n<li>Connect your V400m to secure networks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>To set up your V400m, complete the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"#loadthe\">Load the printer paper<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#turnon\">Turn on your V400m<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#connectyour\">Connect your V400m to your network<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#configureyour\">Configure your POS<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#test\">Test a transaction<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"loadthe\">Load the printer paper<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the paper compartment on your device by pulling the latch up, and then pull the compartment door down.\n<div class=\"support-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"fr-dib\" style=\"width: truepx\" src=\"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/09\/V400m_Opening-latch-and-paper-compartment.png\" alt=\"Illustrations of pulling latch up and opening compartment door\" \/><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Insert the paper roll with the edge of the paper at the top of the roll.\n<div class=\"support-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"fr-dib\" style=\"width: truepx\" src=\"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/09\/replace-paper-insert-new-roll.png\" alt=\"Illustration of inserting paper roll\" width=\"517\" height=\"311\" \/><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Unroll the paper until it is over the serrated edge of your device, and then close the compartment door.\n<div class=\"support-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"fr-dib\" style=\"width: truepx\" src=\"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/09\/replace-paper-close-door.png\" alt=\"Illustrations of unrolling paper and closing door\" width=\"414\" height=\"331\" \/><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"turnon\">Turn on your V400m<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Insert the 5V power adapter into the power port on your V400m.<\/li>\n<li>Plug the power adapter into a power socket. Your V400m should turn on.\n<ul>\n<li>If your V400m does not turn on, hold <strong>Enter<\/strong> for at least two seconds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"notice\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Before you continue to set up your V400m, we recommend that you charge it for at least two hours.<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"connectyour\">Connect your V400m to your network<\/h3>\n<p>You can connect your e285 to your network using one of the following connection types:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/payment-devices\/genius\/v400m\/how-do-i-set-up-my-genius-v400m\/#wifi connection\">Wi-Fi<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/payment-devices\/genius\/v400m\/how-do-i-set-up-my-genius-v400m\/#bluetooth connection\">Bluetooth<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"notice\"><strong>Note<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your device is configured to receive a dynamic IP address by default. If you need to configure a static IP address, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/payment-devices\/genius\/v400m\/how-do-i-configure-a-static-ip-address-on-my-genius-v400m\/\">How do I configure a static IP address on my Semi-Integrated V400m?<\/a><\/li>\n<li>If your Semi-Integrated V400m prompts you to \u201cPower interface?\u201d, tap <strong>Yes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Wi-Fi<\/h4>\n<h5 id=\"wifi connection\">Find your network<\/h5>\n<div class=\"notice notice-danger\"><strong>Important: <\/strong>If you&#8217;re not using our Meet in the Cloud solution, connect your V400m to the same network as your POS.<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Use the keypad to press <strong>1<\/strong>, <strong>5<\/strong>, and <strong>9<\/strong> at the same time.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Com Control<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1498\" src=\"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/09\/Com-Control-highlight.png\" alt=\"Select Com Control\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>WiFi<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Configuration<\/strong>, and then use the keypad to type the password. The default password is <strong>200331<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>WiFi Scan.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5 id=\"bluetooth connection\">Connect to your network<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>From the list of available networks, tap the network you want to connect to.<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<strong>Add.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select the type of authentication that your network uses. If you don\u2019t know the type of authentication your network uses, contact your network administrator.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your network details. The details you need to enter depend on whether you chose pre-shared key (PSK) authentication or extensible authentication protocol (EAP) authentication.\n<ul>\n<li>For PSK authentication, in the Pre-Shared-Key (PSK) field, enter the authentication password.<\/li>\n<li>For EAP authentication, enter the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Identity<\/li>\n<li>Password<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<strong>OK.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Save<\/strong>, and then tap <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Yes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>To return to the WiFi menu, tap <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5>Apply your settings and return to the home screen<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Tap <strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1245\" src=\"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/01\/Back-arrow-MAC.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"20\" height=\"21\" data-sitemapexclude=\"true\" \/><\/strong> twice.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Exit,<\/strong> and then tap <strong>Yes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Tap the Genius icon.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Bluetooth<\/h4>\n<p>Pair your V400m with your POS to share your POS&#8217; network connection with your V400m.<\/p>\n<div class=\"notice notice-danger\"><strong>Important: <\/strong>Make sure that your POS supports Bluetooth network sharing. This functionality could be called \u201cTethering\u201d or \u201c&#8217;Hotspot\u201d depending on whether your POS runs on Android, Windows, or iOS.<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Turn on or restart your e285 to begin the three-minute pairing window.<\/li>\n<li>Wait until you see the home screen.<\/li>\n<li>On your POS, do a Bluetooth scan.<\/li>\n<li>From the list of available Bluetooth devices, select your Verifone e285 device.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm any pairing prompts that appear on your e285 or POS.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"checkyour\">Check your connection<\/h3>\n<h4>Wi-Fi<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Use the keypad to press <strong>1<\/strong>, <strong>5<\/strong>, and <strong>9<\/strong> at the same time.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Com Control<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Status<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm that the Status field shows \u201cUp.\u201d If the Status field shows \u201cDown,\u201d contact our <a href=\"managing-my-account\/contact-us\/#Genius\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Semi-Integrated Support Team<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Make a note of the IP address as you will need it to configure your POS.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Bluetooth<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Use the keypad to press <strong>1<\/strong>, <strong>5<\/strong>, and <strong>9<\/strong> at the same time.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Com Control<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>More<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Status<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>IP Addresses<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>BT LAN<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm that the Status field shows \u201cUp.\u201d If the Status field shows \u201cDown,\u201d contact our <a href=\"managing-my-account\/contact-us\/#Genius\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Semi-Integrated Support Team<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Make a note of the IP address as you will need it to configure your POS.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"configureyour\">Configure your POS<\/h3>\n<p>To configure your POS, you need the following information:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Your Merchantware credentials, including your:\n<ul>\n<li>Merchantware name<\/li>\n<li>Site ID<\/li>\n<li>Authentication key<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The IP address of your V400m.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"test\">Test a transaction<\/h3>\n<p>Run a test transaction on your POS to make sure you correctly configured it with your V400m.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the test transaction successfully transfers to your V400m, cancel the test transaction and start running live sales.<\/li>\n<li>If the test transaction doesn\u2019t successfully transfer, contact our <a href=\"managing-my-account\/contact-us\/#Genius\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Support Team<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"notice\"><strong>Next steps: <\/strong><a href=\"how-do-i-check-my-genius-v400m-is-ready-to-use\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How do I check my V400m is ready to use?<\/a><\/div>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Note: To help prevent issues with your V400m, we recommend that you do the following: Charge your V400m when you aren\u2019t using it.
