In the Ethernet menu, you can view the network status and test your connection with the Local Area Network (LAN) and the Wide Area Network (WAN), or with the internet by using the ping function.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The network status can be one of the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Down<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 If the network is <\/span><b>Down<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, your device attempts to force a connection. If this attempt fails, your device can\u2019t connect to the LAN.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Up<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 If the network is <\/span><b>Up<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and the gateway ping fails, your device can detect the LAN, but can\u2019t connect to the WAN. This can be due to a firewall, a closed port, or your device being configured for a dynamic IP address when a <a href=\"https:\/\/help.globalpaymentsintegrated.com\/1\/payment-devices\/genius\/countertop\/how-do-i-set-a-static-ip-address-on-my-genius-device\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">static IP address<\/a> is required.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To test your Genius Countertop&#8217;s connection, complete the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From the home screen, use the keypad to press <\/span><b>1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><b>5<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><b>9<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> at the same time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Use the keypad <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to enter the password, and then press the <\/span><b>Enter<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> key. The default password is <\/span><b>166832<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Tap <b>Diagnostics<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Tap <b>Communication<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Tap <b>Ethernet<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>To check the connection to the LAN, tap <strong>Ping IP<\/strong> and use the keypad to enter an IP address from your network.<br \/>\nOr<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To check the connection to the WAN, tap <\/span><b>Ping IP<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and use the keypad to enter an IP address from outside your network.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"notice\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> If you do not have 12 <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">digits in your IP address, use zeros to complete your IP address.
