Can I process transactions with limited or no network connectivity?

IMPORTANT: This article relates only to Xenial POS products and the POS connection mode for your merchant account must be configured to Serial. 

With limited or no network access, your P400 device can communicate with the Xenial POS via the USB serial connection. Payment requests sent from the POS are transported to the P400 device via the USB connection, while maintaining offline transaction capabilities. Offline transactions are stored securely on the device and are automatically synchronized with the payment gateway when the device reconnects to a Wi-Fi or ethernet network. 

Connecting the USB cable

Connect your P400 with your POS device using the 12V powered USB cable.

  1. Turn your device upside down and place it on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Remove the rear cover by sliding it up and lifting it off.
  3. Insert the cable into the back port on the P400 payment device.
  4. Slide the rear cover back onto your device until it clicks.
  5. Insert the cable into the powered USB port of your POS device.

Check your USB connection type

  1. From the home screen, use the keypad to press 000.
  2. Use the keypad to enter the 9416557 password, and then tap OK.
  3. Check that the Serial Number Field is Enabled.

4. On the keypad, press the Exit button to return to the home screen.
